The Senior Zabbix Administrator is responsible for the architecture, administration, optimization, and support of the Zabbix monitoring platform, with a strong focus on syslog ingestion, log correlation, and event analysis. The role acts as a Zabbix and log‑management SME, supporting alert tuning, event correlation, ITSM integrations, and customer engagements to reduce incident noise and improve operational efficiency.
Job Responsibility
Design, deploy, administer, and maintain the Zabbix server, proxies, agents, and databases
Ensure platform scalability, high availability, performance tuning, backups, and upgrades
Manage distributed Zabbix environments across multiple regions and customers
Perform root cause analysis for platform or monitoring failures
Configure monitoring for servers, network devices, applications, databases, virtualization, and cloud platforms
Design and fine‑tune triggers, thresholds, dependencies, and recovery logic
Reduce alert noise through effective trigger design, hysteresis, and dependency mapping
Troubleshoot stuck alerts, false positives, and delayed recoveries
Design and configure syslog ingestion pipelines integrated with Zabbix
Collect, parse, normalize, and classify logs from network devices, Linux/Unix and Windows servers, security and infrastructure platforms
Build log‑based triggers and alert rules for proactive detection of issues
Correlate syslog events with metrics and availability data for faster root cause analysis
Integrate Zabbix with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) for automated incident creation and updates
Support event forwarding, deduplication, and enrichment
Work with event correlation platforms or ITOM tools where applicable
Ensure clean alert‑to‑incident mapping aligned with operational processes
Develop and maintain custom dashboards, maps, and reports for operations and customers
Provide SLA, availability, performance, and trend analysis reports
Support audit, compliance, and management reporting requirements
Work closely with customers and account teams to understand monitoring and logging requirements
Design Zabbix and syslog‑based solutions aligned with customer environments and SLAs
Act as technical escalation point for complex monitoring or log‑related issues
Provide guidance on best practices, tool capabilities, and optimization strategies
Document monitoring standards, syslog formats, triggers, and operational procedures
Support transitions, migrations, and onboarding of new environments
Mentor junior Zabbix administrators and provide technical leadership
Identify opportunities for automation and monitoring maturity improvements
