Senior Xamarin.Android Developer (.NET) - 12-month contract - Brussels One of our important clients is currently looking for a Senior Xamarin.Android Developer (.NET) for a 12-month contract based in Brussels. Day rate is negotiable. Location: Brussels, Belgium Contract Type: Freelance / Contractor Duration: Long-Term contract Hybrid Working: 2 days/week onsite in Brussels Languages: English + Dutch or French We are currently looking for an experienced Xamarin.Android Developer to play a key role in the evolution of mobile applications used within their Execution Management environment. This is an opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving technical challenges and delivering mobile solutions that directly support operational excellence. You'll work closely with solution architects, business stakeholders and fellow developers to design, build and maintain Android applications while influencing technical decisions and development standards across the team. We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset and a genuine passion for software craftsmanship. Missions Designing and developing high-performance Android applications using .NET and Xamarin.Android Taking ownership of features from concept through delivery and support Working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions Building scalable, maintainable software using Clean Architecture and SOLID principles Developing reliable integrations with backend APIs and enterprise systems Designing offline-first mobile applications with robust synchronization and recovery mechanisms Writing comprehensive automated unit tests to ensure software quality and stability Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and release automation using Azure DevOps Participating in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives Supporting a collaborative development culture through knowledge sharing and code reviews Profile Essential Experience 5+ years of professional .NET development experience 3+ years of hands-on Xamarin.Android / .NET for Android development experience Proven experience with MvvmCross in production environments Strong understanding of Android native development concepts and application lifecycle management Experience writing and maintaining automated unit tests Strong knowledge of Clean Code, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles Experience building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs and backend services Strong Git and version control practices Technical Expertise You should be comfortable with: Advanced .NET development, including async/await, LINQ, design patterns, security best practices, and application architecture Android UI development, responsive layouts, native platform integration, and performance optimization Android lifecycle management, services, background processing, notifications, WorkManager, and platform-specific SDKs MvvmCross navigation, dependency injection, bindings, and ViewModel lifecycle management Offline-first application design, synchronization strategies, conflict resolution, and data recovery mechanisms What makes you successful Beyond technical capability, we're looking for a contractor who: Takes ownership and accountability for delivering complete solutions Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Works independently while remaining a strong team player Remains calm, professional and constructive under pressure Actively contributes ideas and improvements rather than simply executing tasks Demonstrates a genuine commitment to engineering excellence Language Requirements Fluent English (minimum C1 level) Fluent Dutch or French (native level or minimum C2 proficiency) This assignment offers the chance to work on highly visible mobile applications that support the day-to-day operations of one of Belgium's most important operator.   • Experience writing and maintaining automated unit tests
  • Strong knowledge of Clean Code, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles
  • Experience building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs and backend services
  • Strong Git and version control practices
  • Fluent English (minimum C1 level)
  • Fluent Dutch or French (native level or minimum C2 proficiency)
