Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Windows Server Administrator to support a High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. In this role, you’ll ensure the availability and performance of Windows-based infrastructure used by the CAT (Computer-Aided Testing) department, while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams and optimizing system operations. This is a hands-on position requiring strong troubleshooting, automation, and scripting skills in a hybrid Windows/Linux setup.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical Windows Server infrastructure in an HPC environment
  • Install, configure, and manage Windows servers supporting CAE/CAT applications
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for system- and application-level incidents
  • Implement and manage Windows Server updates, patching, and OS upgrades while minimizing downtime
  • Collaborate with the HPC/Linux team to ensure interoperability and performance optimization across hybrid environments
  • Manage user access rights, AD roles, group policies, and ensure alignment with compliance/security policies
  • Document issues, configurations, and solutions using Confluence, ITSM systems, or internal knowledge bases
  • Support application owners and end users by resolving infrastructure-related bottlenecks or integration issues
  • Leverage PowerShell and other scripting tools to automate system maintenance and monitoring tasks
  • Participate in "On Call" weekly shifts supporting off-hours and weekend activity
  • Automate the provisioning and configuration of large-scale infrastructure using platforms and tools like Red Hat Ansible (Chef/Puppet), Git-hub
  • Monitor Infrastructure health using existing solutions (Icinga or similar) and respond to hardware and software issues. Perform daily infrastructure changes
  • Support and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, TSM) to ensure data integrity and availability

Requirements

  • Strong Experience as a Windows Server Administrator in enterprise or HPC environments
  • Deep expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), including AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs
  • Solid PowerShell scripting skills for automation and system management
  • Experience working in or alongside HPC infrastructure and Linux systems (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu) is a plus
  • Familiarity with backup & recovery solutions such as Veeam or IBM TSM
  • Experience with CAE/CAT applications is an advantage
  • Good understanding of virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and system performance tuning
  • Strong documentation skills
  • experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub is a plus
  • Fluent in English (mandatory)
  • German language skills are an advantage
