Job Description

GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Windows Administrator to support our mission‑critical U.S. Coast Guard program. This position will be located in Kearneysville, WV, and will be a hybrid role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and maintenance of a government computer system, with a strong emphasis on VMware, TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA), and Remote Desktop Services (RDS). This role requires a solid understanding of system security, high availability, and the ability to work in a mission‑critical environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Servers (2016, 2019, and newer), ensuring optimal performance and security
  • Manage and administer a large‑scale VMware vSphere environment, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machine lifecycle management
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Remote Desktop Services (RDS) to provide secure remote access to applications and desktops
  • Utilize TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) for automated patching, configuration management, and compliance enforcement across the server environment
  • Administer Active Directory, including the management of Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP services
  • Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with government standards, including system hardening and vulnerability remediation
  • Monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and provide advanced troubleshooting for system and application issues
  • Manage and test backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field with 8+ years (or commensurate expertise)
  • Extensive hands‑on experience installing, configuring, and managing Windows Server environments
  • Proven ability to manage VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter, ESXi, and virtual machine operations
  • In‑depth knowledge of Active Directory, including GPOs, DNS, and DHCP
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Remote Desktop Services (RDS) solutions
  • Strong understanding of security principles and experience applying system hardening in government or regulated environments
  • Must hold a current CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting languages
  • Experience with BMC TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) or similar enterprise automation platforms
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VMware Certified, or equivalent
