The Senior Water Resources Engineer is responsible for professionally and efficiently conduct engineering / scientific work for flooding or broader water resources projects without detailed supervision. Contributes to and/or manages small to medium projects for both public and private sector clients. Accountable for quality project outcomes under direction and support of more senior staff or Project Directors. This requires the application of engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects - having scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of tasks amongst less experienced engineers/scientists.
Job Responsibility
Performs professional technical work requiring experience and knowledge
Supervises and reviews the work of more junior engineers
Makes judgements and recommendations on technical matters within area of expertise
Providing strategic technical advice to internal and external clients
Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices to complete assignments
Shares knowledge and acts as mentor to more junior staff within area of expertise
Adheres to quality, safety, and environmental procedures/standards
Liaises with clients, potential and current, for the purposes of service delivery, networking, and business development
May be responsible for developing proposals and presenting to clients
May act as Project Manager on a range of flood related projects, managing projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of relevant software, systems and processes
May contribute to, or be the author of, technical papers
Maintains, or is working towards, Chartered or Certified status
Flood studies and floodplain risk management studies, site-specific studies
Flood risk and impact assessments, flood emergency response plans and flood mitigation studies
Report writing and review
Contribution to team engagement initiatives

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant area of study
Experience in developing, calibrating and simulating flood models (TUFLOW software experience required)
