Job Responsibility
Bridge upstream research and product development by translating experimental findings into concrete lens design concepts, working closely with downstream R&D and product teams to ensure scientific insights inform tangible innovations
Lead and manage upstream research projects end-to-end, including the design, execution, and oversight of clinical trials where applicable, ensuring scientific rigour and delivery against milestones
Conceive and set up experiments investigating the interaction between the human visual system and ophthalmic lenses
rigorously analyze outcomes to generate actionable insights
Identify and champion new research directions, developing compelling scientific and business cases to secure organizational buy-in and keep the team at the leading edge of myopia science
Translate key findings into protected intellectual property by actively contributing to the drafting and filing of patents
Disseminate research conclusions to internal stakeholders and the broader scientific community through peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations
Functionally lead and animate multidisciplinary research teams, fostering collaboration across scientific disciplines and partnering with R&D teams in France, China, and the USA to align efforts and share expertise
Build and manage collaborative research programmes with local and international universities, expanding the team's scientific network and co-developing research capacity
Requirements
PhD in Vision Sciences or a closely related field
Background in myopia research and clinical trial methodology, including working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Strong grounding in optometry and/or visual neuroscience
Proficiency in data analysis and statistics, with hands-on experience in at least one scientific programming language (R, MATLAB, Python or equivalent)
A solid peer-reviewed publication record commensurate with career stage
A genuine collaborator who thrives in multidisciplinary, cross-cultural team environments
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders in parallel
Confident communicator — equally at ease presenting at international conferences and writing for scientific journals
Proactive and intellectually curious: you bring ideas forward, learn quickly, and don't wait to be told what to explore next
Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy while remaining aligned with broader team and organisational goals
