Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Vehicle Artist (Sr or above) with a strong focus on the technical side to join the development of a new IP. Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! As a member of our Art department, you will work on creating detailed and realistic vehicle models, textures, and materials, ensuring they meet the artistic vision of the project. You will collaborate with engineers and other technical artists to integrate these models into the game engine, optimizing for performance and functionality. As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Creating realistic, believable vehicles of various kinds and associated props authored from reference and/or Concept Art
Maintaining a great level of quality that is aligned with the project Art Direction pillars and a consistent quality level with the world rendering
Collaborating with external development partners to leverage additional asset authoring resources and help guide artists to achieve great results
Ensuring efficient performance on authored vehicles across the game world that fit within limitations of performance budgets
Setting up rigid skinning using internal tools for interactable vehicles in engine
Collaborating with Hard Surface leadership and implementing feedback to modify and improve vehicle asset quality
Working across Technology, Animation and Gameplay Design on cross-department vehicle topics such as Interactivity and Destruction
Communicating daily with the rest of the Hard Surface team for team building and improving art and technical topics
Collaborating with Designers and Concept Artists on unique vehicle designs
Consulting with Hard Surface Leadership and Production to continuously assess project scope and alternative processes such as leveraging External Development for increased efficiency
Requirements:
8+ years of experience working within game development
An impressive portfolio demonstrating your eye for presentation and artistic skills to model, texture and shade high fidelity realistic vehicle assets
Demonstrated experience creating photorealistic vehicles for games in a AAA studio environment
Experience with shader graph and material tweaking to reach desired shading results
A passion to be proactive and work well in a collaborative team environment with excellent communication skills and an ability to resolve conflicts
An ability and passion to learn new tools and workflows effectively
Experience using Photoshop, Painter, 3DSM, Maya, Blender or similar 3D art package
Nice to have:
Experience working with scan data, such as photogrammetry or SLS
Relevant technical knowledge such as rigging, destruction, animation, traffic systems or other logic
Understanding of real-time engine limitations and requirements
Extensive knowledge of additional 3D software like Zbrush, Mudbox, Marvelous Designer or others
