You will work closely with the global Accounting team based in Prague, London, Madrid, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Seattle, as well as other tax, finance and operational teams across the globe. Job Responsibility:
Plan, prepare and manage the tax compliance timetable for various areas of taxes (VAT, lodging taxes and Digital Services Taxes)
Where outsourced, review VAT computations & returns to support these filings, working with external advisors
Where internal, sourcing data, preparing & filing lodging tax returns, working closely with cross-functional teams as necessary
Prepare journal entries and own the validation & reconciliation of various tax accounts via Blackline certification processes
Identify and implement opportunities to further improve, innovate, automate and evolve our tax compliance function using technology (e.g. Alteryx, Power Apps)
Identify, implement and document appropriate process improvements for areas
Work closely with professional firms & cross-functional Expedia teams for roll-outs of new compliance due to changes in legislation and new business initiatives
Providing support for certain tax audits, as needed
Continuously build and nurture collaborative relationships with the Accounting & compliance team, as well as tax and other business
Requirements:
Qualified accountant or 2+ years of tax accounting/compliance experience in public accounting, equivalent consulting or industry
Accounting & tax compliance experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm is preferred
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and capable of clearly articulating complex processes
Fluency in English is required
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to extract, analyze and review data for tax compliance & accounting purposes
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups and similar functionality)
