Applications are invited for the position of Senior Vascular Physiologist (Permanent). The above role is available on a full time, permanent basis at the Galway Clinic, 35 hours per week. The purpose of this service is to provide diagnostic assessment and assist in treatment plans for identified patients.
Job Responsibility:
To provide an effective, efficient and high-quality Vascular Imaging service in a patient centred environment
To perform, interpret and report on ultrasound scans for vascular conditions, working at the level of senior grade vascular physiologist
To perform specific roles in day-to-day management of the department and will have specific duties within the service for which they will be responsible
Perform vascular diagnostic tests using ultrasound and other equipment to obtain images and measurements necessary for successful conclusion of the tests
Analyse requests from Doctors and select necessary test and prioritise them according to clinical need and resources available
Make complex interpretive judgements based on interactively acquired ultrasound blood flow data and imaging
Record test information clearly and accurately in appropriate media
Communicate results and diagnostic information to referring clinicians with appropriate urgency including alerting the clinician when further investigation or treatment is indicated
Be able to communicate complex information clearly to clinicians to enable effective decisions
Ensure all tests are conducted and reported to agreed protocols in accordance with protocols and with best practice
Be responsible for patients’ safety and well-being throughout examinations
Responsible for ensuring due care for patients who may present with a range of illnesses
To support teaching and training activities within the service
Undertake research and development in collaboration with clinical staff and other researchers, in accordance with the priorities of the service
Any other duties as assigned
Requirements:
BSc in Clinical Measurement Science or Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement or equivalent qualification
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of scientific and technical practices
Maintain standards of CPD as required by professional body (I.I.C.M.S)
Ideally be a member of the Society for Vascular Technology in Ireland
Ideally have three years relevant experience in a Vascular Laboratory
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate problem solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrate the initiative, drive and enthusiasm to carry out the role successfully
Ability to work professionally at all times when dealing with patients, staff and the public
Be able to multi-task and prioritise effectively
Flexibility essential
