Work Arrangement This role is categorized as hybrid or remote. Hybrid means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business. The successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Mountain View Technical Center or Warren Technical Center 3x per week if located within 50 miles of this location. Remote candidates are still encouraged to apply. The Role We are the team where industrial design meets digital. As a Senior UX/UI Designer (Level 7), you will own and deliver complex UX/UI solutions for next-generation in-vehicle experiences within defined vehicle systems and programs. This role operates as a senior individual contributor who works independently with minimal guidance and exercises sound judgment on significant design decisions. You will partner closely with engineering, industrial design, and research to translate ambiguous requirements into high-quality, user-centered outcomes that ship. This role has meaningful impact across the function without enterprise-level strategy ownership.
Job Responsibility
Design and deliver UX/UI solutions for vehicle systems and applications across multiple display configurations
Own complex interaction problems across controls, input modalities, navigation flows, and driving modes within defined product scope
Translate ambiguous requirements into clear designs, prototypes, and documented design rationale
Contribute to and refine interaction patterns in collaboration with other designers and cross-functional partners
Partner closely with engineering, industrial design, and research to integrate digital and physical experiences
Conduct and apply user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and inform iteration
Present design recommendations, trade-offs, and rationale to senior stakeholders to support alignment and execution
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Ergonomics, Product Design, Design Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience designing digital interfaces with demonstrated UX and UI craft
Experience owning and delivering complex design initiatives as an individual contributor
Strong proficiency in Figma and standard design and prototyping tools
Demonstrated ability to solve non-standard design problems using independent judgment
Strong communication and presentation skills
Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility, and iterative development practices

Nice to have
Advanced degree in HCI, Industrial Design, Ergonomics, Product Design, or a related field
Experience working on complex, system-level or multimodal digital products
Exposure to automotive, consumer electronics, or other safety-critical or regulated environments
Experience balancing exploratory design work with technical constraints, timelines, and feasibility considerations
Familiarity with 3D modeling, motion design, sound design, multimodal interaction and interactive prototyping
Skilled at navigating between blue-sky ideation and grounded execution, aligning design vision with engineering realities, timelines, and stakeholder priorities
