Job Description:

We are looking for an Underwriting Team Leader for the Inland Marine line of business with strong experience underwriting and leading underwriters who write products/accounts such as transportation, trucking, and/or construction. The position is remote and requires residing in specific states to service brokers/clients/lead underwriting team.

Job Responsibility:

Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers
proactively manage capacity
underwrite and evaluate natural catastrophe accumulations
ensure international insurance programs align with guidelines
maintain contract certainty and proper documentation
ensure utilization of global pricing tools
support completion of policy administration and credit control processes
develop and execute regional underwriting strategy
liaise with market management initiatives
maintain relationships with brokers and clients
lead and manage underwriting team including training and development
manage referrals and re-underwrite complex businesses.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years’ proven track record in underwriting profitable inland marine business
in-depth understanding of LoB products and portfolio
experience managing and developing teams with coaching abilities
experience working in complex, global matrix organization
established relationships with brokers at peer group level
in-depth understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
preferably a bachelor’s degree in related fields (Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance or Economics) and completion of a professional insurance qualification
ability to assess risk exposures and apply industry knowledge
ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources
ability to persuade and motivate others
proficient in tools like PowerPoint, Excel, Word
willingness to learn and utilize AI tools.
