This team makes every interaction count. As part of this team, you’ll help us deliver fast, friendly, human support online and over the phone. We’ll continuously invest in your development. Reporting into the Head of Customer Care, this role plays a key part in protecting Prima’s business and customers by ensuring policies are compliant with our underwriting rules, footprint and operational standards. Sitting within the Underwriting Operations team, you’ll lead complex case reviews, identify operational and risk trends, and help strengthen how underwriting intent is delivered consistently at scale. You’ll act as a operational underwriting authority, balancing technical judgement, customer outcomes and regulatory expectations, while also owning the effective management of team capacity to ensure workloads are prioritised appropriately and service levels are met.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the day to day delivery of the Underwriting Operations function, ensuring timely and high quality underwriting outcomes
Line manage and support the Underwriting Operations team, providing clear direction, coaching and quality oversight, including effective planning and management of team capacity
Coordinate quality assurance across claim referrals and validation audits
Act as the escalation point for complex or sensitive underwriting cases, applying practical judgement in line with underwriting criteria and risk appetite
Work closely with Pricing to ensure referral criteria and acceptance rules remain aligned with Prima’s footprint
Identify operational trends, emerging risks or process gaps, presenting clear recommendations for improvement
Support continuous improvement of underwriting controls, processes and tooling across operational teams
Ensure underwriting activity meets regulatory expectations and internal governance standards
Keep the business up to date with relevant regulatory and market developments within underwriting
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of motor insurance underwriting, particularly within online or digital first environments
Proven ability to apply underwriting judgement pragmatically in an operational setting
Strong analytical capability, with decisions grounded in data and evidence
An “and why not” attitude, with curiosity, proactivity and critical thinking
Comfortable working in a fast moving, scale up environment where processes continue to evolve
Ability to manage initiatives from scoping through to delivery
Eagerness to learn, develop and grow quickly, taking on increasing responsibility within the team
