As a subsidiary of a global insurance group, the firm maintains a superior financial strength rating and is recognized for its extensive involvement in the regional reinsurance sector. This position focuses on underwriting non-marine insurance policies for large and complex commercial risks across Singapore, the Middle East, and the APAC region. You will be responsible for technical risk assessment and the management of a diverse portfolio including property, construction, and energy accounts within an established financial services environment.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluating and underwriting non-marine insurance covers for large-scale commercial risks in compliance with company capacity and risk appetite
Managing professional relationships with insurance brokers to coordinate the flow of technical information and ensure timely communication
Negotiating terms for an assigned portfolio of accounts to maintain business terms in accordance with company objectives
Reviewing complex proposals and formulating well-reasoned recommendations for risk acceptance for cases exceeding individual authority levels
Overseeing the output of the processing team to ensure accurate recording of transactions and the delivery of error-free documentation
Adhering to all legal regulations, industry guidelines, and internal policies governing the underwriting function
Requirements:
10 years of experience in re/insurance underwriting focusing on large and complex commercial risks
Experience in the Middle East and APAC commercial insurance markets and practices
A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or professional insurance qualifications such as SCI or ACII
Knowledge of non-marine risks, reinsurance concepts, and the ability to interpret insurance conditions, clauses, and warranties
Ability to identify and interpret statistics and information for evidence-based decision-making
