Job Description:

Allianz Commercial (AzC) is looking for a Senior Underwriter in New York for our property line of business. The role involves underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet LoB(s) targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority. The position will negotiate price and terms and conditions, as well as develop and maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market Management.

Job Responsibility:

Underwriting new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
Negotiating price and terms and conditions with producers
Proactively managing capacity
Underwriting and evaluating Natural Catastrophe Accumulation
Underwriting International Insurance Programs
Positively representing AzC externally to the market
Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key producers and clients
Ensuring accurate policy documentation issued to producers
Proactively supporting completion of policy administration and credit control processes
Proactively supporting acquisition of new business and retention of existing business
Participate/contribute to key projects

Requirements:

A minimum 3 years’ proven track record in underwriting profitable Property business
In depth understanding of lob products, portfolio, regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape
Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at the peer group level and well established within local market
Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB
Ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources, in detail
identify and resolves issues before they transpire

Nice to have:

Underwritten property insurance products such as large commercial property risks, manufacturing, real estate, retail, public entity, and healthcare facilities
Worked this line of business in a broker role
