Job Description:

A specialist UK insurer is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join their Specialty Professional Indemnity team. This is a strategic, market-facing role with the opportunity to manage a profitable portfolio and contribute to the team’s growth and direction. The role is remote-based anywhere in the UK, with travel to clients and London as required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Underwrite complex Professional Indemnity and specialty lines risks with technical and commercial precision
  • Develop and grow broker relationships across the UK, converting opportunities into profitable business
  • Manage a PI portfolio, balancing risk selection with trading strategy
  • Mentor junior underwriters and act as a technical reference
  • Contribute to strategic planning, process improvements, and team initiatives

Requirements:

  • Proven UK Professional Indemnity or specialty lines underwriting experience
  • Track record of profitable portfolio growth and broker development
  • Strong technical knowledge, pricing, and risk assessment skills
  • Confident in negotiation, trading, and business development
  • Experience mentoring junior underwriters
  • Strong communication and IT skills

Nice to have:

  • Professional qualifications (DIP CII or working towards)
  • Experience across multiple commercial specialty lines
