As our new Backend Engineer for Deal Management, you will drive the architecture, development, and impact of systems that empower local businesses worldwide—right from the ground up.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver complex technical initiatives independently within high-availability, mission-critical systems
  • Lead technical reviews and contribute to architectural decisions, specifically driving TypeScript/Node.js migrations
  • Champion AI-assisted development by using tools like Cursor and Claude hands-on
  • mentor teammates on effective practices and prompt engineering
  • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on roadmap priorities
  • Own operational excellence by maintaining and improving SLOs, observability, and comprehensive documentation for your areas of ownership

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with deep proficiency in production-grade TypeScript, Node.js, and Java
  • A background in Java to support modernization and refactoring projects
  • Distributed systems expertise in high-traffic environments, including API design, monitoring, and advanced debugging
  • AI-Native workflow: Hands-on experience integrating AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) into your daily development cycle
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Set engineering quality bars by driving best practices around code reviews, testing strategy, security, and performance, ensuring long-term maintainability and scalability of the platform

Nice to have:

  • Experience scaling E-commerce or marketplace platforms
  • Open source contributions or practical experience with AI/ML integration
  • Experience owning systems end-to-end, including design, development, rollout, and post-production support in fast-moving environments
  • Strong fundamentals in data modeling, system performance optimization, and resilience patterns
  • Prior experience influencing technical direction beyond your immediate team (RFCs, design docs, tech talks, or migration leadership)
