We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Test Engineer to join our Assembly, Integration, and Test Engineering team (AIT Engineering) in Munich. In this role, you will lead planning, preparation, and execution of structural tests with a focus on structural dynamics. As the key expert for this field, you will manage test equipment, collaborate across teams, and help drive innovation within the company. You will work closely with our analysis teams, sharing your insights to drive improvements in product development. During periods of lower workload in structural dynamics, you will need to support other structural or fluid system tests as well as nominal AIT activities. You can expect a steep learning curve and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the European space industry.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with analysis and design teams to define dynamic test requirements and develop effective test plans and procedures
Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain test equipment (e.g. accelerometers, shakers, impact hammers, data acquisition systems)
Plan and execute a range of structural dynamics tests, including experimental and operational modal analysis and shock measurements
Analyze test data using signal processing and modal analysis tools. Correlate results with simulations and provide feedback to design and analysis teams
Prepare documentation such as procedures, work instructions and test reports
Organize and share test knowledge within the team, becoming the go-to expert for dynamic measurements
Support root cause analysis for structural issues and continuous improvements of test methodologies and lab equipment
Ensure all testing activities comply with safety and quality standards
Requirements:
Can-do attitude with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering or a related field
3+ years of experience in modal testing or structural dynamics
Proficiency with modal testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and analysis software
Solid understanding of vibration theory, structural dynamics, and signal processing
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
Project management with great communication skills
Willingness to travel to test sites as required
Nice to have:
Experience in aerospace, especially in launch vehicle development
Experience correlating test data with analytical models
knowledge of FEM updating
German language skills are a plus
