Job Description:

Join us as a Senior Test Automation Engineer at Barclays, where you will shape the strategic direction of our testing capabilities and drive excellence across our digital platforms. In this senior role, you’ll lead automation initiatives, influence engineering standards, and ensure our digital products deliver exceptional customer experiences at scale.

Job Responsibility:

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Requirements:

  • Experience in delivering end-to-end manual and automated testing solutions in complex environments, with emphasis on designing scalable automation frameworks and strategies
  • Deep proficiency in Java for test automation development, including experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle
  • Knowledge of commonly used test automation frameworks (Selenium, RestAssured, TestNg, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with continuous integration ecosystems such as TeamCity, Jenkins, or GitLab CI, alongside solid knowledge of Git
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, risk-based testing, test optimisation, and best practices for enterprise-grade automation

Nice to have:

  • Ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and lead knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.
  • Experience with relational databases, including complex data validation and test data design.
  • Familiarity with performance testing frameworks is an advantage
