We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Technician to join our dynamic Hair and Beauty Department at Brighton Central Campus. In this role, you will provide essential technical support to both staff and students, ensuring the safe operation of specialist equipment and resources within the learning environment. You will be responsible for the daily operations of learning areas, equipment management, and supervising a team of technicians and salon coordinators. This role is for a fixed term period of maternity cover for a maximum of one year, or the return, resignation or replacement of the current post holder, whichever is sooner.
Job Responsibility:
Provide technical support for students and staff, including safe equipment use and maintenance of teaching resources
Line manage a team of technicians and salon coordinators, conducting appraisals, setting targets, and identifying training needs
Coordinate the deployment, supervision, and workflow of the team, ensuring effective support for teaching and learning
Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Manager to source equipment and manage student kit distribution, working closely with the finance team for bursary-funded students
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, performing risk assessments and maintaining accurate records in line with relevant legislation
Manage resources, order supplies, maintain stock levels, and ensure efficient use of materials
Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment
Requirements:
Relevant industrial or subject experience within the Hair and Beauty sector
A strong understanding of Health and Safety procedures and experience managing equipment
A Level 2 or above qualification in Hairdressing and or Beauty Therapy
Proven time management, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A commitment to student support and a methodical, flexible approach to work
A willingness to undertake additional responsibilities such as staff development and participation in curriculum planning
