Job Description:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Senior Technician located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. This position provides mission-critical emergency communications services and support to public safety agencies, including radio communications, telephone, data wiring, and roadside communications essential to the mission of law enforcement, public safety entities, and to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and inspections of public safety agency telecommunications mobile radio systems and related electronic equipment
  • Operates and flies drones for tower inspections and evaluates data
  • Uses computer software to troubleshoot and program telecom devices
  • Installs and maintains devices that interface to commercial broadband services
  • Installs and maintains CAT5e and CAT6 wiring and tests circuits
  • Tests fiber circuits connecting to radio sites and connection of fiber endpoints
  • Assists with installation and integration of communications systems for roadside ITS components and HAR stations
  • Serves as 24/7 Subject to call Technician and on district emergency on-call rotation
  • Duties include high priority repairs based on outage reports and network monitoring
  • Trains local radio system users in operation of advanced telecommunications equipment

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics
  • 2-4 years of progressive work experience in Technical Operations
  • FCC General Radio Operators License or equivalent certification
  • valid driver's license
  • drone license FAA Part 107 or ability to get within 6 months
  • must successfully complete background check

Nice to have:

3 to 5 years of progressive work experience in maintenance and repair of electronic devices or telecommunications systems or an Associate's Degree in Electronics
