Job Responsibility

  • Responsibility for the architecture, design, and further development of our complex MS SQL Server landscape
  • Design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and high-performance database architecture
  • Implementation and configuration of MSSQL services based on defined architectural standards
  • Operation of MSSQL databases on-premises or in the cloud. Execution and organization of patch cycles, in-depth problem diagnosis, performance analysis, health monitoring, and configuration recommendations
  • License management for Microsoft SQL Server
  • oAnalysis, planning, and optimization of SQL Server licenses
  • oEnsuring license compliance (compliance)
  • oAdvising business units and management on licensing models (Core, CAL, Enterprise scenarios)
  • Ensuring database performance by identifying and resolving issues in production and application development
  • calculating optimal parameter values
  • evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases
  • performing maintenance tasks
  • responding to user inquiries
  • Handling incidents, service requests, issues, and requirements for all database types based on the ITIL standard
  • A high level of customer understanding and communication skills, coupled with a strong commitment to quality, is required to improve customer satisfaction with the database service
  • Creative thinking in the implementation of service improvements (automation, reduction of incidents, etc.)
  • Providing round-the-clock support (on-call duty)

Requirements

  • Several years of professional experience (at least 8 years) and in-depth expertise in MSSQL databases
  • Very in-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (Enterprise features, Always-on, replication, SSIS/SSRS)
  • In-depth understanding of performance optimization, locking, transactions, and query optimization
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, Managed Instances)
  • Solid knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, …)
  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Good written and spoken English skills
