This post is suitable for individuals who are enthusiastic about delivering excellent patient care and getting involved in medical education. It will allow you to gain skills and experience in teaching whilst you also develop your knowledge and skills in psychiatry. You will be working alongside other keen and extremely passionate educationists and supportive team. Successful applicants will also be funded to study for a postgraduate qualification in medical Education with Newcastle University. Job Responsibility:
Deliver regular teaching sessions
Create and improve existing teaching sessions
Create and develop teaching and learning resources
Participate in bedside teaching in clinical areas
Facilitate student feedback during clinical placement
Provide pastoral support for students
Familiarise with processes to support professionalism issues
Familiarise with the delivery of various UG assessments
Support further development of postgraduate teaching for junior doctors
Support the development of stage 4 SSCs
Undertake and evaluate an innovative medical education project
Complete certificate of medical education
Provide clinical support to the stepped care psychiatry service within Newcastle
Work out of hours alongside other junior doctors
Requirements:
Registered with the GMC
MBBS (or equivalent)
Shall have completed foundation training or have equivalent experience and competencies
Experience of working in psychiatry at core level
2 years postgraduate psychiatry experience
Awareness of current issues in clinical research and research methodology, including Research Governance (RG) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Frameworks
Awareness of audit and clinical governance requirements
Clinical experience in psychiatry relevant to this post
Experience of participation in audit
Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
Ability to travel between Trust sites
Able to work constructively with multidisciplinary research group
Highly motivated and good time management skills
Nice to have:
Previous experience/training in education
Involvement in publications or a higher degree
MRCPsych or equivalent
Excellent knowledge of psychiatry in relation to duties of current post
Good understanding of Undergraduate Medical education
Experience in teaching/ research/ publications
Experience in participation in education activities
Information Technology skills
Demonstrated report writing skills
