Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Tax Preparer to support high‑net‑worth clients with complex tax needs and advanced planning strategies. While the role is heavily focused on tax preparation during busy season, you’ll also play a key part in year‑round tax planning, client communication, and selective business development efforts. The ideal candidate is an Enrolled Agent (EA) or tax‑focused CPA with strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the confidence to operate independently in a client‑facing advisory environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead preparation of individual tax returns (primarily Form 1040)
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather documentation and ensure a smooth, proactive tax prep experience
  • Prepare detailed tax analyses, projections, and estimated tax calculations
  • Explain complex tax issues in clear, practical terms while ensuring full compliance with all filing requirements
  • Stay current on tax law changes and recommend strategies to improve both short‑ and long‑term client outcomes
  • Provide internal guidance to wealth advisors on tax‑related questions and planning opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of tax preparation experience (EA preferred
  • CPA candidates welcome)
  • Proficiency with Lacerte required
  • Strong communication skills and experience supporting high‑net‑worth individuals
  • Familiarity with advanced strategies including 1031 exchanges, QSBS, Opportunity Zones, charitable giving, stock compensation, and Roth conversions
  • Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and tech‑savvy with strong follow‑through
  • California return experience required
  • multi‑state exposure preferred

Nice to have

  • Hands‑on experience with tax planning and direct client interaction
  • Working knowledge of estate and gift tax planning
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience with 1041 and 1065 is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of estate and gift tax planning is highly valued
