Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the tax compliance and advisory services for Australia and ensure the delivery of a professional, effective and responsive tax service. The role also involves exposure to the New Zealand business and tax regulations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responsibility for ensuring operational tax compliance
  • Responsibility for managing tax compliance, tax accounting and audit activities
  • Provide tax advice to all levels of Australian management and business units
  • Support the Head of Tax with the implementation of tax strategies and policies to properly and effectively manage tax exposures and risks
  • Support with identifying areas of potential tax risks and drive improvements to processes, controls and/or systems
  • Day to day liaison with local stakeholders on tax issues
  • Support with influencing or lobbying external bodies
  • Support with similar activities over the New Zealand business.

Requirements:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Taxation (such as Master of Taxation) or professional qualification (e.g. CPA/CA) is favorable
  • Experience working for one of the big four professional service firms, or internal tax function of a large corporate is preferred
  • Subject matter expertise in tax, primarily in Australian and ideally with exposure to tax on international basis
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate complex tax matters to non-tax professionals
  • Ability to make robust decisions which may be contrary to the business wishes and ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Proactive approach to identifying tax opportunities and risks
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
