The HCSC tax team is a key strategic partner to the organization providing insights that support business decisions and long-term growth. We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead full tax lifecycle for a newly acquired block of business within HCSC organization. In this highly visible role, you will oversee tax accounting (ASC 740 & SSAP 101), federal and state income tax compliance, forecasting and planning functions, and tax research while partnering closely with finance, accounting and leadership teams to integrate the business and optimize its tax positions. Job Responsibility:
Lead the quarterly and annual tax provision processes under ASC 740 and SSAP 101, including current and deferred tax calculations, valuation allowance and effective tax analysis, income tax disclosures and footnotes
Oversee federal and state income tax compliance, including returns, extensions and estimated payments
Support tax forecasting and planning, providing insights into the tax impact of business performance and strategic decisions
Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and cash tax position
Research and analyze complex federal and state tax issues, documenting conclusions and provision recommendations to leadership
Provide input into strategic decision-making associated with federal and state tax audits, including identification and development of strategic options
Maintain effective communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required
Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, oversee the implementation of systems used in the compliance process and integration of the acquired business
Lead, mentor and continuously develop a tram of tax professionals, fostering technical growth, knowledge sharing, and strong collaboration across the team
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting AND 8 years experience with federal income tax, tax accounting and tax research
4 years leadership experience including 2 yrs in a management position
Experience managing federal and state tax compliance
Strong technical research and analytical skills
Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to finance and business partners
Interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively manage a project
Nice to have:
Advanced degree in taxation or law and/or professional certification (i.e. MST, CPA)
Insurance company taxation experience
Experience with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and SSAP 101
Experience with tax technology software (i.e. CorpTax, One Source)
