Our tax team’s mission is to manage and optimize Uber’s tax position across EMEA, ensuring compliance while supporting business growth in a fast-paced environment. This role serves as the primary point of contact for tax matters in five EMEA countries, including two key markets, Germany and Spain, and will lead all tax-related activities from tax advisory to strategic planning.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the primary point of contact for all tax matters in five EMEA countries, including two key (star) markets Germany and Spain
Coordinate and lead responses to tax audits and queries from local tax authorities, working closely with external advisors and internal stakeholders
Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business, providing timely guidance to relevant teams
Collaborate with other teams such as Legal, Policy and Ops to assess tax implications of new business initiatives
Support global and regional tax planning efforts, ensuring alignment with Uber’s overall tax strategy while managing local risks
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Requirements:
Strong technical tax expertise with 6+ years of experience in international and/or regional corporate tax, preferably within a multinational environment or Big 4 firm
Proven experience managing direct and indirect tax matters across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, including tax controversy and advisory
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor and collaborate effectively across finance, legal, and operations teams
Nice to have:
Deep expertise in European tax legislation, particularly in Germany and Spain, with hands-on experience navigating complex tax environments in these jurisdictions
A proactive, strategic mindset with a track record of identifying tax planning opportunities and driving process improvements
Experience working in a fast-paced, tech or platform-based business, with the agility to adapt to constant change and cross-functional dynamics
Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead audits, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion with minimal oversight
