Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our mid-sized accounting firm in Mount Arlington, NJ. In this role, you will prepare both business and personal tax returns and provide strategic tax planning advice to our clients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare, review, and analyze individual, trust, gift, partnership, and corporate tax returns
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax returns and other tax related issues
  • Research and advise clients on complex tax questions
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities for business clients and owners
  • Review and adjust client accounting records to reconcile with tax returns, including cash and accrual basis differences
  • Demonstrate skill, judgment, and initiative to independently manage multiple assignments
  • Supervise and train entry-level accounting staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your Manager

Requirements:

  • BS or BA in Accounting required
  • CPA or active pursuit of license desired
  • 3-5 years of experience preparing business and individual tax returns
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office especially, Word and Excel
  • QuickBooks experience (desktop and online) preferred
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software
  • Prosystem FX Tax experience preferred
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Effective communicator with the ability to ask questions in a professional, clear and concise manner and demonstrate patience in client interactions
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and reliability
  • Strong sense of professionalism
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality

Nice to have:

  • QuickBooks experience (desktop and online) preferred
  • Prosystem FX Tax experience preferred
