Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join a small and collaborative accounting team in Highland Park, Illinois. This is a Contract to Permanent position within the financial services industry, offering an opportunity to work closely with the firm’s owner and contribute to both tax preparation and bookkeeping. The role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, thrives in a hands-on environment, and enjoys client-facing responsibilities.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, small businesses, corporations and trusts
Provide expert consultation to clients regarding their tax situations and planning strategies
Assess and refine internal tax processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Offer QuickBooks bookkeeping support and general financial assistance during off-season periods
Collaborate directly with the firm’s owner and other team members to ensure seamless client service
Stay updated on tax regulations and compliance requirements to deliver accurate and timely services
Assist in addressing client inquiries and resolving tax-related issues effectively
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to foster trust and long-term partnerships

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation, with a focus on individual and small business returns
Proficiency in QuickBooks and a solid background in bookkeeping
Expertise in handling sales and use tax, corporate tax returns, and individual tax filings
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients
Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively within a small-team environment
High level of attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
Knowledge of current tax laws and regulations
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
