Robert Half is partnering with a privately held group of businesses seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to take ownership of their tax function and support ongoing accounting operations. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with ownership in a highly visible, hands-on role supporting multiple entities and individual filings. This is a flexible opportunity that offers hybrid/remote work during the winter months. Job Responsibility
Lead the preparation and submission of federal and state tax returns for individuals as well as pass-through business entities, including S corporations and partnerships
Oversee tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions by tracking deadlines, managing extensions, and ensuring accurate and timely remittances
Contribute to tax planning initiatives and perform research to help improve outcomes for both business entities and individual filers
Partner directly with ownership and key internal contacts to review tax exposure, support cash flow discussions, and inform financial decision-making
Administer multi-state payroll activities and help ensure related tax reporting is completed accurately and on schedule
Record and review accounting activity by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining reliable financial data
Assist with monthly and annual close procedures to support accurate reporting and overall financial readiness
Provide broader accounting support during slower tax periods, including bookkeeping oversight and transaction review across the organization
Requirements
3+ years of experience in tax, public accounting, or a closely related environment
Demonstrated expertise preparing individual tax returns and pass-through entity filings, including Forms 1040, 1120-S, and 1065
Working knowledge of multi-state tax rules and compliance requirements
Ability to succeed in a small business setting where priorities may span tax, accounting, and operational support
Experience using accounting systems and handling payroll processing responsibilities
Nice to have
CPA designation or active progress toward certification is preferred, but not required
Strong ability to work independently and communicate effectively with business leadership
