Airswift is currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join the finance department of one of our key clients in the manufacturing industry in Trinidad e Tobago. The Senior Tax Accountant plays a critical execution and technical role within the Group Tax Department, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions. This role supports the Group’s tax governance framework by preparing statutory tax filings, performing tax reconciliations, supporting IFRS tax accounting, and assisting subsidiaries with audit and compliance matters. With a strong grounding in tax legislation and financial reporting, the Senior Tax Accountant contributes to maintaining data integrity, strengthening audit readiness, and advancing continuous improvement initiatives across the Group
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and file Corporation Tax, VAT/GST, PAYE, and withholding tax returns for assigned Group entities in accordance with statutory requirements
Review subsidiary tax submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Group standards
Calculate and monitor quarterly instalments, final tax payments, refunds, credits, and ageing schedules
Maintain up-to-date schedules for tax losses, allowances, and incentives to support Group reporting
Support IFRS tax accounting, including tax journals, deferred tax schedules, and inputs for effective tax rate (ETR) reporting
Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts—including VAT, CIT, WHT, refunds, and provisions—and resolve discrepancies
Prepare data inputs for dashboards, ETR reporting, and management commentary
Respond to tax queries and support subsidiaries with tax authority correspondence and routine compliance issues
Prepare audit-ready documentation and support external and tax authority audit requests
Identify compliance gaps, data anomalies, and high-risk matters, escalating appropriately to senior tax leadership
Provide guidance to subsidiaries regarding submissions, audits, and compliance questions
Support tax training initiatives and help strengthen technical understanding across finance teams
Contribute to standardization, documentation, and automation initiatives within the tax function
Assist with tax research and support OECD-related initiatives such as BEPS, transfer pricing, and CbCR
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
training in the tax area is an asset
Professional qualification: ACCA or CPA (CIMA acceptable with experience in the tax area)
Experience in accounting or taxation, including direct tax compliance
Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365, SAP, Oracle)
Practical experience in financial reporting and reconciliations based on IFRS
Experience in a multi-entity or group business environment is an advantage
Experience with Power BI or similar data-driven compliance reporting tools is an asset
