Local client in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area is seeking an interim Senior Tax Accountant to support tax compliance, reporting, and accounting activities within a multinational organization on a contract (possible contract-to-hire basis). This role requires strong technical expertise in U.S. and international tax, along with hands-on ASC 740 experience. Ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role will be hybrid onsite 3 days a week in the local Raleigh/Durham office.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and review federal, state, and local income/franchise tax returns
Compile and analyze financial data
prepare supporting tax workpapers
Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision processes (ASC 740)
Calculate effective tax rates and maintain deferred tax schedules
Prepare tax-related journal entries and financial statement disclosures
Support tax audits and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities
Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda
Partner cross-functionally with accounting, treasury, legal, and operations
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies (SOX)
Identify and drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Master’s in Tax and/or CPA strongly preferred
5+ years of tax experience (public accounting + corporate preferred)
Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate tax and ASC 740
Exposure to international tax concepts preferred
Experience with tax software (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
