The Systems Engineer analyzes user requirements, operational concepts, and system architectures to develop detailed system specifications. This role leads system design and development efforts, provides technical guidance on requirements formulation, evaluates alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies. It ensures the seamless integration of requirements, design, and technology into operational environments. The position is responsible for producing technical documentation, system architectures, and system engineering plans while overseeing integration, verification, and implementation activities. The Systems Engineer serves as a primary technical interface with government stakeholders, ensuring the technical integrity of all engineering deliverables and maintaining clear communication among program personnel and senior leadership.
Job Responsibility:
Manage system and derived requirements to ensure alignment with system architectures such as DoDAF and SOA
Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans, Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents, and Initial Capabilities Documents
Assist in defining system, functional, and allocated requirements across hardware, software, facility, and personnel components
Coordinate and resolve cross‑discipline action items from CCB meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews
Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based on operational and developmental considerations
Allocate real‑time process budgets and error budgets across system and subsystem components
Generate alternative system concepts, architectures, and design solutions
Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for confirming system and subsystem compliance with requirements
Develop design solutions that satisfy system requirements and align with functional analysis
Review WBS, work packages, and the Integrated Master Plan (IMP) for accuracy and completeness
Support the development of system engineering documentation throughout the lifecycle
Support interface definition and design changes across stakeholder groups
Derive stakeholder needs and implied functions from system requirements
Develop lower‑level requirements that are complete, verifiable, and unambiguous
Establish and gain approval for system or component definitions, including requirements, designs, interfaces, and test procedures
Develop requirements for Information Assurance (IA) services and integrate IA mechanisms such as authentication, cryptography, access control, and key management
Implement comprehensive SOA solutions
Implement operational, technical standards, and systems/services views using DoDAF standards
Review and approve engineering documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
Maintain interface definitions in a common repository for accessibility
Assess program risks, determining probability and consequence in accordance with risk management plans
Plan early verification activities for emerging system designs
Prepare time‑line analysis diagrams illustrating time‑dependent system functions
Establish formal processes for managing requirements changes, ensuring stakeholder buy‑in, and maintaining full traceability
Maintain the technical integrity of the system baseline throughout development, deployment, and O&M phases
Support DoD and Government Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes
Contribute to the development and review of JCIDS documentation including ICDs, CDDs, and IA strategies
Provide technical direction for engineering, integration, interfacing, and testing of complex systems
Develop operational scenarios and Concepts of Operation describing interactions between the system, users, and environment
Perform quantitative analysis across non‑functional performance areas such as reliability, maintainability, survivability, vulnerability, and producibility
Coordinate system integration activities among multiple teams through formal processes, ensuring full interface coverage
Requirements:
14 years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement
U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants
