Job Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of enterprise infrastructure systems with a focus on virtualization, storage, and physical datacenter operations. This role requires deep expertise in VMware technologies, hands-on experience maintaining physical servers and supporting data center environments, and strong scripting skills to automate processes and improve efficiency. The ideal candidate is a highly technical professional who can bridge on-premise infrastructure with modern hybrid or cloud-based environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Job Responsibility:

Design, implement, and maintain enterprise virtualization environments using VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi
Manage and maintain physical datacenter assets including rack-and-stack, cabling, hardware lifecycle management, and environmental monitoring
Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring
Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability
proactively identify and remediate potential issues
Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure cohesive infrastructure design and integration
Support disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, including replication and backup validation
Document configurations, standards, and operational procedures
maintain an accurate inventory of systems and components
Lead or participate in infrastructure upgrade and migration projects
Provide Tier 3 support for complex system issues and mentor junior engineers

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in enterprise environments
5+ years of experience managing VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi)
Strong hands-on experience with physical datacenter operations (rack/stack, cabling, hardware diagnostics)
Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.)
VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN
Windows and/or Linux server administration
Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, backup systems, and monitoring tools
Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, IP addressing)
Must be locally located and comfortable working a 3 days in office hybrid model and 2 days remote

Nice to have:

Understanding of configuration management or infrastructure-as-code principles (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is a plus
Experience with hybrid or cloud-integrated infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is preferred
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher
Experience with Dell, HPE, or Cisco UCS server hardware
Knowledge of datacenter power and cooling best practices
Experience implementing security hardening and compliance controls
Strong documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills
