Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Information Systems Administrator supporting AFLCMC/GBQ within the Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) Directorate. This position directly supports the Agile Support Office, which executes a dual mission: establishing standardized, optimized technical environments across BES programs and managing continuous process improvement (CPI) through the BES Process Directory (BPD). The Senior Information Systems Administrator will provide expert-level systems administration, environment optimization, and infrastructure support to ensure effective system hosting, lifecycle management, and technical baseline alignment across BES applications. The role requires advanced technical knowledge, strong independent problem-solving abilities, and leadership in mentoring junior personnel.
Job Responsibility:
Provide advanced system administration for Network, Web, and communication systems, ensuring secure and effective operations across LAN/WAN environments
Support the Agile Support Office in establishing, documenting, and optimizing technical baselines for BES programs
Partner with functional sponsors, CDTs, and infrastructure providers to assess and deliver hosting environment options aligned with DCOI and Air Force Common Computing Environment standards
Foster reuse, interoperability, and efficiency across application technical infrastructures and shared services
Support lifecycle management by delivering and maintaining tools, environments, and services required by program offices and development teams
Prepare and execute detailed implementation plans, including integrated technical solutions, schedules, and risk considerations
Conduct system performance optimization and capacity planning to meet evolving mission needs
Assist users in accessing and effectively using business systems and technical environments
Contribute to AFLCMC/GBQ process improvement initiatives by supporting standard, repeatable practices and participating in CPI activities
Ensure all system administration and infrastructure activities comply with DoD, Air Force, and AFLCMC policies and technical standards
Mentor and guide junior and journeyman system administrators and support personnel
Requirements:
Master’s or Doctorate in a related field with 10 years of experience, including 5 years in DoD
OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 12 years of experience, including 5 years in DoD
OR 15 years of directly related experience with required certifications, including 8 years in DoD
Professional Certification: DoD 8140 451-Intermediate Certification required (Security+)
Advanced system administration expertise across Network, Web, and communication systems, including LAN/WAN environments and network security
