Job Description:

Our client is a well known VIC State government organisation managing and protecting Melbourne’s major water resources. They are currently seeking a Senior Systems Accountant to come in and join their Melbourne CBD on a permanent contract.

Job Responsibility:

  • System Maintenance and Management: Maintain and manage all Finance & Risk technologies within the Finance, Risk & Commercial Services (FR&CS) team, specifically focusing on systems like TechOne
  • Data Integrity Assurance: Maintain and enhance the integrity of the Finance system, ensuring accurate reconciliation across all ledgers and modules
  • Technical Support and Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system and integration related issues, whilst overseeing the implementation of long-term solutions
  • Stakeholder Alignment and Process Optimization: Partner with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to align system capabilities with business requirements and deliver smarter, more streamlined processes
  • Financial Close Leadership: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including system rollover, system reconciliation, and analysis
  • System Development and Enhancement: Play a pivotal role in system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations in collaboration with IT and external vendors
  • User Training and Service Optimization: Ensure the team optimizes customer service by providing user training and guidance on financial systems and reporting tools

Requirements:

  • Tertiary degree in Finance, Commerce and/or Information Systems
  • Extensive experience in accounting roles with a focus on Financial systems or systems accounting, including implementations and upgrades
  • Experience in using TechOne System
  • Strong knowledge and experience of complex financial technologies management (e.g., general ledger, query and reporting)
  • Strong financial modelling skills – ability to quickly analyse large amounts of data
  • Strong analytical, variance analysis, forecasting and accounting skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Accounting Concepts / Financial statements (Profit & Loss,Balance Sheet and Cashflow)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and good skills in Microsoft Word
