Job Description:

The Senior Buyer supports BD’s supply chain by managing both strategic and operational procurement activities to ensure consistent, cost‑effective, and compliant material availability. This role partners with Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and external suppliers to drive performance, mitigate supply risk, and support business continuity within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Execute daily purchasing activities, including PO creation, confirmations, and expediting
  • Lead supplier negotiations, cost‑reduction initiatives, and contract discussions
  • Monitor supplier performance, track KPIs, and drive corrective actions when needed
  • Maintain strong alignment with Planning to meet production and inventory targets
  • Support supplier qualifications, change control activities, and engineering transitions
  • Maintain accurate material, pricing, and supplier data within SAP (MM/MRP)
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve supply issues and ensure compliance with BD quality standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience (regulated industry preferred)
  • Proficiency with SAP (MM/MRP) and strong data/analytics skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation ability and supplier management experience
  • Effective communication and ability to manage competing priorities

Nice to have:

  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing
  • Understanding of ISO 13485, GMP, or FDA‑regulated supply chain requirements
  • APICS/ASCM or ISM certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CPSM)
