CEC is seeking an experienced structural engineer with three or more years of experience in the transportation industry. The selected candidate is expected to have structural engineering experience as it relates to bridges, culverts, and retaining walls for transportation projects and have experience in transportation project management and construction document preparation.
Job Responsibility:
Serves with autonomy for project-related tasks and as a designated client contact
May have project management responsibilities on multiple projects
Responsible for successful completion of projects, including schedule, budget, and profitability
Develops estimates, pricing, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects
Develops feasible engineering design alternatives
Prepares or directs preparation of structural calculations, modeling, analysis, and design
Utilizes or oversees use of computer software to create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts
Prepares or directs preparation of contract documents
Performs field visits to inspect existing structures and identify necessary repairs
Reviews and redlines production plans for revisions
Directs and provides training, technical support, guidance, input, and mentoring to project teams
Participates in and ensures QC/QA procedures are followed
Reviews shop drawings and responds to RFIs
Responsible for work-in-progress, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable
Develops, fosters, and maintains client relationships
Collaborates with Marketing and Business Development staff to respond to new business opportunities
Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in civil or structural engineering from ABET accredited university
Eight or more years of progressive experience in structural bridge engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) and Structural Engineer (SE) license required
If not licensed in Oklahoma, Texas, and/or Arkansas, must be able to obtain licenses within six months of start date
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Proficient personal computer skills
Remote connectivity device (e.g., smart phone, tablet, etc.) with data plan sufficient for company requirements

Nice to have:
Master’s degree (M.S.) with emphasis in structural engineering

Experience in structural detailing in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software
Experience with structural design software such as Bentley OpenBridge and MDX
