An award-winning, multidisciplinary construction consultancy are seeking experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their London office. The Senior Structural Engineer’s role will involve delivering a high-quality structural and surveying engineering service to clients across a varied portfolio of small to medium-sized projects. This position is heavily focused on structural surveys, inspections, technical reporting, and the production of practical design solutions, drawings, and specifications. Please note: This role may be subject to DBS, BPSS, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance.
Job Responsibility:
Support the team leader in achieving agreed monthly fee income targets
Plan, undertake, and manage structural, condition, and measured surveys of existing buildings and infrastructure assets
Carry out intrusive and non-intrusive site investigations, inspections, and defect identification
Ensure all survey works comply with relevant standards, health & safety legislation, and site constraints, particularly within secure or operational environments
Contribute to feasibility studies and early-stage optioneering through robust condition assessment input
Assist in promoting the structural engineering services of the practice
Develop practical and economical structural design solutions aligned with architectural intent
Support project delivery from initial brief through to completion, including defining scope, deliverables, specifications, drawings, and reports
Help agree project design duties and service levels in line with fee proposals
Monitor engineering and CAD/BIM resource requirements across assigned projects
Deliver engineering services from concept design through detailed design, tender, contract stages, and site supervision
Liaise closely with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure coordinated and technically compliant outputs
Participate in project and design meetings, contributing positively and maintaining internal design reviews
Monitor project progress, variations, and financial performance where applicable
Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business
Produce structural survey reports and technical documentation
Provide input into fee quotations and bid submissions when required
Support the use of BIM and 3D design in line with organisational strategy
Attend pre-start and project meetings as the lead structural engineer when required
Manage client expectations, providing clear technical and commercial advice throughout delivery
Support the development, mentoring, and training of junior engineers within the team
Requirements:
A relevant MEng or BEng qualification
Chartered status with IStructE or ICE
Strong knowledge of construction methods, Building Regulations, and associated legislation
Experience delivering projects ranging from £10k to £50m in value
Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to travel through the South/Southeast
