Our Water Group in Victoria has developed strong, long‑term relationships across the water market and maintains a robust pipeline of work. We continue to focus on expanding our capability across a broad range of disciplines, enabling us to support our water clients through a diverse mix of skills, experience, and perspectives. We are seeking motivated Engineers and other suitably qualified professionals to join our high‑performing Water team in our Melbourne office. Our projects are varied and diverse, spanning the full project lifecycle - from master planning and strategic‑level studies through to feasibility assessments, detailed design, and construction supervision.
Job Responsibility:
Perform advanced structural engineering design tasks on assigned projects under minimal supervision, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies
Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for small size projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews
Collaborate with stakeholders in client project requirement meetings, coordination meetings with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project specifications
Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors to develop solutions
Plan, monitor and deliver structural design projects or tasks, coordinating various resources including designers, drafters and other disciplines to deliver structural deliverables to an agreed program
Perform on technically complex projects and may act as a technical resource to other team members, project managers and design managers across the water group
Apply advanced knowledge of current principles and practices of structural engineering and keeps informed of new methods and developments
Guide and mentor junior structural engineers, perform critical design checks and apply quality assurance practices to structural design activities
Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limited
Assist and/or lead the development of proposals
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
8 years’ experience within a consulting engineering practice
Involvement in the structural design of civil or industrial infrastructure with a focus on concrete and steel, preferably in a water industry setting
Under the supervision of a national team, willing to develop and expand your structural engineering experience water and wastewater infrastructure
Expertise with working with a wide range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies
Strong ability to prioritize workloads whilst maintaining strong and trusting work relationships with our clients and colleagues both locally and across the broader Stantec team
Possess strong problem-solving abilities to develop practical solutions to a variety structural engineering challenge, both at the desktop and in the field
Nice to have:
Holding or working towards RPEV and / or Chartership is highly regarded
Past site experience, including inspections and construction support would be highly regarded
