Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE) Ideally
MEng/MSc in Structural or Civil Engineering (JBM accredited)
Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in structural design and analysis
Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, BS standards, and Building Regulations (Part A)
Proficient in design software (MasterSeries, Tekla, SCIA Engineer, or Autodesk Robot)
BIM/Revit or Tekla experience advantageous
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Responsibility

Lead the design and delivery of a growing portfolio of structural projects across the South of England
Take responsibility for technical design, project delivery, and client liaison on a variety of new build, refurbishment, and alteration schemes – covering residential, commercial, and heritage properties
Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and specifications
Carry out inspections and defect analysis
Ensure all work meets Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations standards
Build and influence internal systems, templates, and QA processes as the department grows

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in Structural Engineering
Knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and familiarity with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.)
Preferred software knowledge and requirements include Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, RISA, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary in order to effectively communicate with clients, contractors and employees, virtually and in-person, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and self-motivated to be successful

Job Responsibility

Perform as lead engineer for small and larger projects with little oversight, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule, overseeing the work throughout various project stages – from conceptual, feasibility, and detailed design through construction
Assist as required in the preparation of proposals and marketing materials through definition and write-ups of project scope and activities on past projects
Establish project scope, structural budgets, and design approach
Meet with client personnel to assist in preliminary planning and identify design concepts
Work with clients and professional counterparts to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, meetings, and/or exceeding client expectations
Responsible for the design of structural systems and components for a variety of industrial facility types
ensuring the designs conform to AFRY quality standards, recognized codes as well as client requirements
Duties include structural engineering, structural details, analysis and design, and writing technical and study reports
Direct participation in planning, designing, or reviewing plans, working closely with mechanical, process, electrical, architectural, and civil disciplines to deliver successful projects

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program
7+ years of experience in structural engineering
experience with water/wastewater facilities preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license required in any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain reciprocity in Utah or Arizona
Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and structural design software such as RISA, SAP2000, or equivalent
Familiarity with CADD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and coordination with modeling teams
Strong communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators, contractors, and internal teams

Support or lead construction phase services including site inspections, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and structural observation reports
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
share knowledge to support team development
Apply knowledge of current structural codes (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.) and industry standards to all phases of design and construction
Remain current with structural engineering innovations, tools, and best practices to improve design quality and efficiency
