As a Merchant Selection and Pricing Sr Manager at Uber Eats Canada, you will play a critical role in shaping our merchant selection strategy and designing pricing to influence merchant success and Uber's overall business performance. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and commercial execution. You will lead the design and implementation of data-driven strategies that balance selection density (having the right restaurants in the right places) with commercial sustainability. You will be the architect of our merchant portfolio, ensuring we have a competitive, high-quality selection that drives eater frequency while maintaining healthy business economics.
Job Responsibility
Develop Selection Strategy: Create the strategic framework for merchant acquisition and retention
identify "must-have" selection gaps in specific geographic groups and design the commercial terms needed to win them
Lead the Deal Desk: Manage all new and renewing merchant deals, ensuring they adhere to internal guardrails for pricing, legal compliance, and profitability
Optimize Marketplace Mix: Analyze market dynamics to determine the optimal balance of merchant categories and develop pricing models that reflect the value each merchant brings to the platform
Data-Driven Insights: Analyze performance trends, including merchant churn, price sensitivity, and selection gaps, to surface actionable insights for the Commercial and Operations teams
Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Legal to operationalize pricing and selection decisions, ensuring our "Value Proposition" remains competitive
Governance & Reporting: Build and maintain dashboards that track selection health (e.g., selection parity vs. competitors) and pricing performance to guide executive-level conversations
Strategic Initiatives: Lead projects that improve merchant economics and engagement.
Requirements
4+ years of professional experience in Strategy & Ops, Commercial, Finance, or Consulting roles
Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools like Tableau, along with modeling scenario impacts
Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering
Nice to have
Solid understanding of the restaurant or similar industries and how pricing influences customer behavior, conversion, and profitability
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and translate them into clear pricing strategies that balance short- and long-term impact
