We’re looking for a dynamic, results driven Senior Strategic Account Manager – Energy & Utilities to lead the development and growth of our green energy portfolio. This is a high‑impact commercial and strategic role, responsible for helping shape sector direction, winning significant new business, and developing long‑term partnerships across energy, utilities, and sustainability markets.
Job Responsibility
Lead the development and growth of our green energy portfolio
Develop and execute sector strategies to grow MTC’s green energy portfolio through commercial and collaborative R&D projects
Deliver a £2.5m+ annual order intake, balancing commercial contracts and funded research opportunities
Identify, target, and secure new clients, markets, and strategic partnerships within energy, utilities, and sustainability
Consolidate and extend MTC’s proven capabilities across multiple technologies, including Hydrogen, Heat Pumps, and emerging green energy solutions
Lead and influence cross‑functional teams across engineering, marketing, sales, and programme delivery to achieve customer and business outcomes
Track and interpret industry trends, government policy, regulation, and funding incentives to maintain competitive advantage
Negotiate complex, high‑value contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners
Shape investment and capability development priorities, making evidence‑based recommendations to senior leadership
Prepare and present business performance, sustainability metrics, and growth forecasts at senior level
Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, and environmental responsibility across MTC
Requirements
Demonstrable track record of revenue growth and successful project delivery in fast‑paced, complex environments
Strong understanding of green energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead matrixed, cross‑functional teams
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop robust business cases and commercial strategies
A clear passion for sustainability and reducing carbon impact through innovation
Familiarity with carbon credit markets or energy efficiency certification schemes
Nice to have
Experience using or advocating Miller Heiman methodologies (desirable)
Experience with grant applications or securing funding for green energy initiatives
