Senior Staff Robotics Engineer- Localization

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Stretch World Modeling team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in architecting, building, maintaining, and expanding a successful product that is already solving problems outside of the lab for customers around the world. You will be responsible for leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring junior engineers, focusing on how our robots perceive and interpret their surroundings to inform their actions. The Stretch World Modeling team is responsible for providing Stretch with the robust environmental understanding it needs to operate effectively within warehouse environments. This includes core system components such as object detection, state estimation, localization and sensor fusion. A key application for this role will be supporting the Case Pick application, where the robot autonomously navigates the warehouse to build orders, requiring accurate and reliable Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) capabilities. The team also develops and maintains key pieces of infrastructure to enable our work, including sensor drivers, debugging and visualization tools, and off-robot data processing pipelines. Additionally, we regularly test our robots, analyze their performance, and continually improve the reliability of the products we deliver to our customers.
