We are looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations and help maintain accurate financial reporting for the Oceanside, California location. This role will oversee close activities, reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and compliance-related filings while partnering with internal teams and external advisors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances through detailed analysis
Review financial records and statements to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards and internal procedures
Prepare journal entries, supporting schedules, and account analyses for routine and complex transactions
Submit monthly financial data through the company’s consolidation platform and maintain reliable reporting documentation
Monitor cash activity and support short-term cash flow planning to help maintain effective financial operations
Contribute to annual budget development and assist with updates to forecasts and spending plans as needed
Coordinate with external tax advisors on filings, complete sales and use tax returns, maintain fixed asset records, and support internal and external audit requests
Oversee accounts payable accuracy by reviewing invoice coding and helping ensure timely processing of vendor payments and employee expense reimbursements
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen day-to-day financial processes
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
At least 5 years of progressive accounting or financial audit experience
Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Strong analytical skills with careful attention to detail and a high level of organization
Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and work independently with limited supervision
Effective collaboration skills and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams across multiple locations
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience in BioPharma or Material Science environments and familiarity with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or Oracle-based ERP systems is preferred
