Our client, a well-respected nonprofit organization, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their Accounting & Finance team. This role will support financial reporting, grant and fund accounting, audit preparation, budgeting, compliance, and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong GAAP accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and experience working in a mission-driven or nonprofit environment.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and reconcile daily financial transactions, general ledger activity, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries
Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, and restricted fund balances
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Analyze financial statements, variances, and supporting schedules
Support grant and fund accounting, including invoicing, reconciliations, and budget tracking
Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines
Assist with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
Prepare audit workpapers and support annual audit activities
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense projections
Support cash flow monitoring and reconciliation of cash and investment accounts
Partner with department leaders to support financial accountability and reporting accuracy
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of GAAP accounting experience
Nonprofit and fund accounting experience preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
