The Senior Sonographer will perform ultrasound scanning examinations of patients using a highly specialised skilled set. It will also include acting as an information resource for junior colleagues, delivering high standards of clinical practice and skills in Radiology. This is a specified purpose contract to cover a period of Maternity Leave.
Job Responsibility:
Undertake all general, gynaecological and DVT ultrasound scanning procedures and to maintain a highly specialist standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures
Maintain full safety standards in ultrasound
Keep abreast of latest technical and scientific advancements within the field of ultrasound
Efficient and effective use of equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any faults to the Clinical Specialist Sonographer and/or the Radiology Services Manager
Participate in implementation of new technology and service developments
Be aware of the department’s Local Rules and policies and to instruct other members of staff in safe practises
Be familiar with and understand the Clinic’s policies and procedures in relation to Infection Control, Fire, Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend mandatory training
Participate in the implementation of clinical procedures, protocols and work instructions
Requirements:
BSc in Radiography
CORU registration
Postgraduate ultrasound qualification
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in US scanning
Familiar with a computerised patient information system and PACS
Thorough understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety
