As a Senior Software Engineer at Lounge by Zalando, you'll join a cross-functional team that will shape the next chapter in our customer experience. You'll collaborate with mobile, web, and backend engineers, as well as product managers and designers, all working towards creating a seamless and delightful shopping journey. We support your growth with opportunities to work with modern technologies and learn from experienced peers. *This is a one-year fixed-term position covering maternity leave until 31.08.2027.

Job Responsibility

  • Contribute to the design, development, and operation of scalable, reliable, low-latency backend solutions for our customer facing applications
  • Write clean, robust, and maintainable code, focusing on high quality and automated tests
  • Take an active part in solution design, architecture discussions, technical decisions, and production readiness reviews
  • Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices, using feedback as a means of personal and team growth
  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team, iterating quickly during the product development cycle
  • Influence and proactively help in the growth of juniors and peers through mentoring or coaching

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional development experience on frontend web technologies
  • Highly proficient in TypeScript and React, with deep knowledge of modern build tools like Webpack and the Node.js ecosystem
  • Comfortable working with AWS and Kubernetes and believe that automated testing and CI/CD are non-negotiable parts of the development process
  • Passionate about working in an agile, cross-functional team, iterating quickly during the product development cycle
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering peers
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends in web services and software design, always looking for ways to improve our tech stack and developer experience
  • Self-motivated and have a proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Proficient in identifying and solving production related issues and bottlenecks in systems
  • Experience with incident management and root cause analysis
