Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic the Health ; Wellness Digital team. You will be responsible for leading large scale cross-org backend solutions which touch many parts of the enterprise. You'll work closely with product, design, business and engineering leadership to build high-performing, scalable, and secure software solutions for millions of Walmart pharmacy customers.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers focused on building web and mobile solutions
  • Be technical partner to engineering managers and collaborate on strategic engineering planning, roadmap sequencing, prioritization technical investments, providing technical feedback on their reports
  • Work closely with Business, Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to define upcoming projects and longer-term strategy for the team
  • Make hands-on engineering contribution to the core products
  • Mentor engineers on the team
  • Promote a culture of Technical Excellence

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in backend development
  • Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or Node.js
  • Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and No SQL)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful API design
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in both written and verbal modes across multiple functional teams
  • Passionate about coaching and mentoring engineers of all experience levels
  • Passionate about solving deep technical challenges
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
