Azure Core is the engine of Microsoft’s Cloud. Azure Core powers infrastructure that is the foundation for cloud computing. Our team Azure Service Fabric is a highly decentralized runtime and a platform that abstracts and solves some of the hardest distributed systems problems, like failure detection, leader election, and replicated state machines that are fundamental to building hyper-scale, reliable, and available systems in Azure Core and many critical Azure services. As a Senior Software Engineer in Azure Service Fabric team, you will be designing and delivering cutting-edge, cloud-scale distributed systems software that enables fault-tolerance, self-managing and cloud scale capabilities.

Job Responsibility:

Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario
Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform
Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI)
Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items
Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate
Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience
1+ years experience designing complex software services and components, design of large-scale distributed systems, building services hosted in Cloud
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Nice to have:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience
2+ years system development and debugging experience in Linux
1+ years experience in building solutions for Engineering Systems for a large engineering organization
Experience with delivering high-quality, large-scale services in cloud applications
Proficient analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment
Excellent customer and partner focus - able to understand their needs through a data driven approach
