Help reinvent how advertising outcomes are measured in the AI era. You’ll join Microsoft Advertising in building the always-on measurement foundations that power performance, trust, and optimization at global scale. You’ll work on systems that transform raw conversion events into actionable attribution signals—so advertisers can understand what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve as customer journeys evolve. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Conversion & Attribution engineering team, you will strengthen the near real-time conversion pipeline—collecting and processing conversion events with low latency, and producing attribution signals used for reporting and campaign optimization. You’ll raise the bar on reliability, observability, and operational excellence for business-critical services, and help evolve our attribution platform toward a more unified, configurable architecture that supports cross-scenario needs.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborates with engineering, product, and data partners to define requirements for conversion measurement and attribution scenarios, including latency and correctness goals
Drives dependency alignment and produces design docs for near real-time conversion/attribution services, including data contracts and operational readiness
Builds, optimizes, and maintains code to improve throughput, latency, reliability, and maintainability of conversion and attribution pipelines
Leads improvements to observability (metrics, dashboards, logging, alerting) and contributes to unified monitoring/alerting practices where applicable
Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following operational playbooks
Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends and patterns to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Nice to have:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Experience with streaming / near real-time processing and data pipeline reliability patterns (SLOs/SLAs, backpressure, late events, idempotency)
Experience with ads measurement / conversion tracking / attribution systems, and familiarity with privacy- and compliance-aware handling of measurement/telemetry data evolves in the era of AI
